Hazelnut Nougat

There is no easier christmas recipe than Nougat!

Honey-based with the addition of hazelnuts, it is also the most delicious holiday recipe and the best delicacy to accompany a hot cup of coffee



For the hazelnut nougat: 


Ingredients: 

125gr sugar

125gr honey 

1 egg white

200gr Hazelnuts (or nuts of choice)



Method:

•Roast the hazelnuts in preheated oven at 175C for 10 minutes

•Transfer sugar and honey in a pot +

•Mix over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is bubbly.

•Set aside for approx. 3 minutes.

•Whip the egg white with an electric mixer until it creates stiff peaks

•Add half the whipped egg white in the sugar-honey pot and cook over low heat whisking until incorporated.

•Add the rest of the egg white meringue and continue cooking on low-medium heat whisking constantly until the mixture becomes glossy.

◇If you want a more caramelized flavour and a crunchier nougat with less strings, cook on medium until the mixture reaches a light blonde colour

•Remove from heat and mix in the roasted hazelnuts

•Spread the nougat evenly into a mold and refrigerate for 12 hours.

•Remove from fridge and mold and cut them in the desired shape

Enjoy at room temperature with a cup of hot coffee!
